TORONTO – A coach with the York University Lions football team has been charged with child-luring.
Toronto police allege the man engaged in online and text chats with a 16-year-old boy. The teen sent pictures of himself to the accused using his cellphone, police claim.
The accused allegedly began contacting the boy in December 2012 and continued to speak with him over the phone and internet until February.
Daniel Younis, 24, is charged with luring a child under 18 and attempting to make child pornography. At the time of his arrest, Younis was the recruiting coordinator and running back coach for the Lions.
Police believe there may be more victims.
York University said it has suspended its relationship with Younis pending the outcome of the police investigation.

This should not have been printed until all sides were looked at Dan is a well respected and hounest young man who I have known for many years. And although i do not beleave these charges to be correct, in my opinion if these allegations are the truth 16 is old enuf to know the diffrence between right and wrong and im thinking it more likly that the boy could have made it all up for the attention. What ever happened to innocent until proven guilty? Dan is a good guy and dose not fit the charecteristics of someone who would EVER try luring children.
Reading this article (and many more like it) has made me lose all confidence in our news reporters. They’ve spun such a load of crap out of this situation that arose over a simple miscommunication and could have been avoided had the accuser attempted to understand the whole situation instead of jumping to conclusions and pressing charges; they should be held accountable for tarnishing this innocent mans reputation. Anyone who knows Danny Younes is absolutely positive that these accusations are bogus. How about getting all of the details before printing a one-sided story!
one has to also focus on the 16 year old, why would you be online sending pictures of yourself to a grown man? For fun? Hell no, the kid was looking for the same thing that this creep was looking for.
Just another day at York University.
Are our children not (allegedly) safe participating in sports anymore?
