After announcing an expansion to the village earlier this year, it looks like Blue Mountain will also be upgrading the ski and snowboard experience itself.
Blue Mountain, Ontario’s largest mountain village resort, will invest $10 million to expand its ski and snowboard terrain, adding new trails for winter 2013/2014.
The expansion will include an additional 64 acres of terrain along with a new, high-speed six-person chairlift and six new trails.
“This is one of the most significant investments in the Resort’s 73 year history and the largest expansion of a ski resort in Ontario in recent memory,” said Dan Skelton, President and Chief Operating Officer, Blue Mountain Resort.
Snowmaking equipment and night lighting will be installed on three of the six new trails, according to a news release.
After the expansion Blue Mountain will have 42 skiable trails, giving it the most in Ontario.
The expansion will also introduce a new 1.6-km trail that will be the longest beginner trail in Ontario.
“More trails and improved skiing and snowboarding facilities enhance the visitor experience and give Ontario families more reasons to travel in our province,” said Michael Chan, Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport.

I would agree with “KC”…expensive….overcrowded on those days when most of those people from Toronto and GTA CAN ski….and once you go out of the province to ski the real ski places..this resort will not do much for you….
I would agree with “Elizabeth” ..yes, finally…..this place is good for kids..and their parents having a place where to take them away from the computers and other electronic game gadgets..IF ONLY..they would lower the ticket price for them..so it is affordable for more of these families??!!
I would agree with “Harvey”….the best place to ski in Ontario..I mean..the best public ski resort..there are a bit better places to ski here…but you must have $20-40,000 in your pocket to become the privileged one who can regularly ski those hills;
Hopefully, good for the economy.
Personally, the place doesn’t do much for me, everything was a bit expensive, ran into lots of people trying to flash a wealthy image to find out most of them were living well beyond their means and up to their eyes in debt.
Finally!!!…. We are so happy!!!
