TORONTO, Ont. – A 19-year-old man died in hospital early Friday after a shooting in the parking lot of a Toronto night club.

Naveed Shahnawaz of Brampton died in hospital after being shot during a fight Sunday around 3 a.m. in the parking lot of the Muzik night club at Exhibition Place. A 23-year-old man was also shot.

Three Toronto men were charged Monday in connection with the shooting.

Tony Hoang Dinh, 18, is charged with 14 counts including attempted murder with a firearm, aggravated assault and assault with a weapon.

Jonathan Lau, 19, faces three charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle.

Hoan Nguyen, 26, has been charged with one count of assault.

The Special Investigations Unit is probing the incident.

The police watchdog said officers responding to gunshots outside the club fired at a Honda Accord leaving the area. The car came to a stop in a snowbank a short distance away.

A 19-year-old man in the vehicle was hit in the chest and the arm and an 18-year-old was shot in the arm. Both were transported to hospital.

Police did not state whether the three suspects were the same men wounded in the vehicle.

The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
