TTC uses scare tactics to keep pigeons away from Bathurst station

Subway riders using Bathurst station can expect to hear strange noises occurring every 10 minutes, all in the name of keeping the pigeons away.

The birds routinely fly through the station and have the tendency to roost in certain areas.

The sounds are “distressed pigeon calls”, designed to freak out the birds and keep them away in a humane manner.

TTC workers have also placed spikes on some of the birds’ favourite roosting places, with signs being posted urging riders not to feed the birds.
