Canadians less concerned about retirement planning: report

A new poll suggests Canadians appear less concerned about retirement planning than in years past and more concerned with debt reduction.

The Harris/Decima survey for CIBC finds 17-percent say debt reduction is their main priority in 2013.

That’s the third year in a row that debt reduction topped the list of financial priorities.

Retirement planning didn’t even make the top three this year.

Second on the list, as chosen by 10-percent overall, was building savings.

In third place was managing day-to-day spending and budgeting.
