TORONTO, Ont. – GO Transit is hiking its fares effective Feb. 1.
Board members of Metrolinx, which operates GO Transit, approved an incremental increase Wednesday that will vary on the distance travelled.
A 35-cent increase will be applied to fares between $4.50 and $5.80, a 45-cent hike will be added to fares between $5.81 and $7.35, and a 55-cent increase will be applied to fares over $7.35.
The fare increase will go toward infrastructure and service improvements, the provincial agency said.
The increase will be less for riders who use GO’s PRESTO pass.
