Pedestrian dies following hit-and-run on Midland Ave.

TORONTO, Ont. – A 42-year-old man is dead after a hit-and-run in the city’s east-end Tuesday evening.

The man was struck by two civilian vehicles on Midland Avenue and Kilcullen Castle Gate near McNicoll Avenue shortly before 5:30 p.m., Const. Clint Stibbe said.

The man was trying to cross to the east side of Midland Avenue, south of Kilcullen Castle Gate when he was struck by a vehicle making a left turn onto Kilcullen Castle Gate, police said. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

The impact threw the pedestrian into the southbound lanes of Midland Avenue where the man was struck by a second vehicle. The driver fled the site of the collision, police said.

No vehicle description is available. But police said the vehicle likely sustained front-end damage.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
