Study finds cyberbullying affects fewer teens than originally believed

A new study suggests cyberbullying among adolescents and pre-teens may not be the epidemic many believe it to be.

In a presentation late last week to American psychological association, two national surveys involving nearly 5,000 pre-teens and teens found that 17 per cent said they had been bullied on the Internet during the past year.

While that may seem high, past studies had pegged the cyberbullying victim rate anywhere from 30 per cent to as lofty as 72 per cent.
