2 Brampton men hurt after truck cab plunges off highway in N.Y. state

SYRACUSE, N.Y. – Authorities in New York state said two men from Brampton, Ont., were hurt when a tractor-trailer cab plunged several metres from an elevated stretch of highway onto a sidewalk.

Fire officials tell the Post-Standard of Syracuse that the truck, which was carrying electronic cargo, was headed north on Interstate 81 when the crash occurred around 12:30 a.m.

They say the cab dangled briefly over the edge of the highway before falling about seven metres. The rest of the truck stayed on the highway.

The men, aged 52 and 53, were pulled from the cab and taken to hospital with minor injuries.

An investigation is underway to determine what caused the crash.
