TORONTO, Ont. – A traffic heads-up for the weekend: there are closures on the Gardiner Expressway and a portion of Highway 401 in Mississauga. Below is what you need to know.

Gardiner Expressway

Eastbound and westbound Gardiner is scheduled to be closed from Saturday at 2 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. for fall maintenance. Toronto officials said they’re doing repairs, setting up lane restrictions for light pole replacement and cleaning catch basins.

  • Westbound Gardiner will be closed from Carlaw to Jameson avenues. The on-ramp to the Gardiner Expressway from Lake Shore Boulevard to Carlaw Avenue will also be closed. Southbound traffic on the Don Valley Parkway must exit at Bayview/Bloor, Richmond Street or the Don Roadway. Motorists can enter the westbound Gardiner Expressway at Jameson Avenue.
  • Eastbound Gardiner will be closed from York/Bay/Yonge exit to the DVP. Eastbound traffic must exit at either the Jameson, Spadina or York/Bay/Yonge exits.
  • During the closure, motorists can use Lake Shore Boulevard, Bloor, Richmond and Adelaide streets as alternative routes.

Following the weekend closure, the eastbound curb lane of the Gardiner from Jarvis Street to the Don River will remain closed for long-term repair work.

Partial Highway 401 closure
