Fox renews “The Simpsons” for two more seasons

The tales of Springfield have been extended another two years.

In a statement released Friday night, Fox Television said it has reached a deal with the main cast members of “The Simpsons” and signed the show on for a 24th and 25th season.

There had been reports that the two were close to signing a new deal which would allow the long running show to continue, but at a reduced salary for its stars.

Fox reportedly demanded that the cast take a 45 per cent pay cut in order for the show to continue.

No word on the details of the new deal.

The animated sitcom, created by Matt Groening, is the the longest-running American primetime scripted television series, entering its twenty-third season in September 2010.
