Cleanup effort underway in Vancouver after riots

In Vancouver, the image of thousands of drunk and angry Canucks fans rioting and looting is being replaced by that of average citizens armed with garbage bags and work gloves, cleaning up their city.

Hundreds hit the streets of downtown Vancouver to clean up their city.

Streets cleaners are now brushing the charred concrete as a Facebook group – with thousands of followers – organized a mass gathering to sweep away the riot’s mess.

Instead of sitting around being pissed, why not get out there and clean up,” a Vancouverite named Phil asked. He was up at the crack of dawn with a broom in hand.

Vancouverites are also posting photos and videos to a Facebook page to help police identify the troublemakers.

“We are fully committed to tracking down these criminals and making them pay for their crimes” a Vancouver officer said.
