Don’t commit a jersey foul

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – ‘Tis the season to sport a Canucks jersey. But there is a right way and a wrong way to wear the old hockey sweater.

Jersey fouls come in many forms, from wearing the number 69 and thinking you’re super cool to having Wayne Gretzky’s 99 on a jersey for a team he never played for. It’s committed when a wishful thinking Calgary fan wears Sidney Crosby’s 87 on his Flames jersey.

Suki Sawdre with Van City Sports has another doozie foul committed by a Canucks fan. “Before the first game of the series, someone wrote ‘The Team’ and the number 11, as in the team that’s going to win the cup this year.”

Another jersey foul is the double logo. That is, when you wear one team’s sweater while wearing another team’s hat.

Mark Taylor at Cyclone Taylor Sports says he’s also seen his fair share. “Oh yeah, we have that with some beer league teams that will be thrown at us to put that number on.  You kind of roll your eyes at that one.”
