VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – BC’s federal NDP candidates are feeling bullish about their chances thanks to new polling numbers. The party has seen a decent jump.
While the Ekos-iPolitics poll has the Tories still in the lead, the NDP has enjoyed nice bump in support from 14 to 20 points.
Burnaby-New West NDP incumbent Peter Julian says their gain is the Grits’ loss.
“I’m meeting a lot of former Liberal and Green voters on the doorstep who are saying this time they’re going to vote NDP. Jack Layton has referred to them as the Layton Liberals.”
Vancouver-East News Democrat Libby Davies says it’s not just a drop for the Liberals that explains people’s shifting votes. “They want to know that their Member of Parliament is going to stick up for them and fight hard on these issues around pensions, job creation and health care.”
