Landmark Toronto convention centre hits the market

One of Toronto’s largest and most well-known meeting places is now on the market.

The Metro Toronto Convention Centre Complex is officially for sale, according to a Monday press release by real estate giant CB Richard Ellis Limited and TD Cornerstone Commercial Realty Inc.

The 1.95-million square-foot development comprises a full city-block along the south side of Front Street West, between John and Simcoe Streets.

Situated on the complex is the 586-room Intercontinental Toronto Centre Hotel, the north building of the Metro Toronto Convention Centre, a 265,000 square foot office tower and a 1,200 stall multi-level above-ground parking facility.

“This offering represents a unique opportunity for investors to acquire a landmark real estate asset in downtown Toronto,” said John O’Bryan, Vice-Chairman of CB Richard Ellis. “The opportunity to invest in the core of a major metropolitan centre in such a significant way is rare, and we are excited to be involved in this mandate.”

The convention centre sits on a 7.41-acre site, and incorporates the addresses at 225, 255 and 277 Front Street West, which makes up some of Toronto’s prime real estate.

There has been no word on the asking price.
