Oktoberfest parade takes over Kitchener

TORONTO, Ont. – For those looking for a large Thanksgiving party, there is a celebration just down the 401 which is expected to draw 150,000 revellers.

The Kitchener-Waterloo region is hosting the 42nd annual Oktoberfest Parade, where more than 30 floats have already taken to the downtown streets.

Some of the floats include a replica of the Titanic and a pirate ship. Also on hand will be clowns to entertain the kids, and award winning marching bands from across Canada and the United States.

The parade with the German twist has been called “one of the most spectacular Thanksgiving Day parades in Canada”, but it is the only big Thanksgiving parade in the country.

Oktoberfest kicked off Friday and will continue through the rest of the week.
