Facebook gang hacks privacy settings, breaks into homes; police issue warning

TORONTO, Ont. – Police have issued a warning after a “Facebook gang” broke into at least 50 homes in the United States.

It is like an addiction for many people. The “Twitter-verse” has become widely popular and many people are using social networking applications, like Facebook, on their smartphones.

But Toronto Police Constable Tony Vella said putting too much personal information on the internet could make you a target.

“Unfortunately, a small majority of people don’t have good intentions … the last thing you want to be is stalked or anything along those lines. Protect yourself.”

Posting pictures of your home or car and then tweeting that your on vacation is dangerous, said Vella.

Despite privacy settings, members of the so-called Facebook gang used a special search engine, typed in a key word – such as vacation – and were able to snoop on their victims.
