$50-million Lotto Max remains unclaimed for 3rd week

TORONTO, Ont. – A whopping $95-million, the largest lottery prize in Canadian history, was up for grabs in last night’s Lotto Max, but no one collected the big prize.

This was the third week in a row that the jackpot went unclaimed.  However, 30 Maxmillion $1-million prizes were won across Canada, 16 in Ontario.

The Lottery Corporation has another $50-million posted for next Friday with 55 Maxmillion subsidiary prizes.

One Lotto player told 680News he likes the idea of having more prizes because more people have a chance to win.

“I think it’s a good split. I think the more that you split it up and have more people involved and more winners […] it gets more people excited and probably creates more in ticket sales and more revenue for OLG.”

Sales for the June 18 draw jumped nearly 40 per cent across Canada.

Many hopeful Lotto winners that spoke with 680News had vacation on their minds, like this woman, who said she would go “somewhere hot in the Caribbean where [she could] lay on the beach.”

Other Lotto hopefuls said their winnings would be split with co-workers because they are part of a pool.

While some said they would donate some of their prize money to the less fortunate.

The odds of winning the $50-million jackpot are estimated at 1 in 28 million; however, the odds are slightly better for the 45 Maxmillion prizes at 1 in 623,000.

In February, one ticket each in Quebec and B.C. split a $50-million Lotto Max draw while Marie Fontaine of Pine Falls, Manitoba won the full $50-dollar million jackpot last November.
