London man charged in woman’s shooting death in Brampton

Peel regional police have charged a 19-year-old London man with first-degree murder in the shooting death of a woman in Brampton last year.
On August 13, 2020, emergency crews discovered Sangita Sharma, 56, with a fatal gunshot wound at a residence on Treeline Boulevard.
On Friday, police arrested Fiseha Girmay Habtegabir and charged him in connection to the killing
“Sangita Sharma’s death was the tragic outcome of a callous act of violence,” Peel police chief Nishan Duraiappah said in a release.
“It carried deep impacts on her loved ones and our community. While we are pleased to share that this arrest has been made, we believe there are others responsible for her death. We are committed to ensuring they do not escape that responsibility.”
Police said the investigation is ongoing as they try to identify additional suspects. They are also trying to determine a connection between the suspect and victim.
