More than 100 COVID-19 cases linked to Hamilton apartment building

A significant COVID-19 outbreak has been declared at an apartment building in Hamilton.

According the City of Hamilton’s data, 107 cases have been reported at Rebecca Towers located at 235 Rebecca Street. One death has also being logged. The outbreak was first declared on May 3.

In an interview with CHCH News, Mayor Fred Eisenberger said the safety of the residents is a “primary issue”, and he is working with property management to strengthen public health measures.

Hamilton Paramedics have been called in to test residents and book vaccination appointments for those who are eligible, according to Eisenberger.

Two other apartment outbreaks have also been declared in the city Tuesday.

Twenty-nine cases have been linked to The Village Apartments at 151 Queen Street North while 22 cases have been confirmed at Wellington Place Apartments at 125 Wellington Street and 50 Carhart Street.

There were 92 new cases reported in Hamilton on Tuesday.
