More than a dozen quarantine hotel employees confirmed positive for COVID-19

We’re learning more about the COVID-19 outbreak at the Crowne Plaza Hotel near Toronto Pearson International Airport.

Toronto Public Health says as of Tuesday morning, there are 13 confirmed cases of the virus in staff members at the hotel.

TPH has provided instructions to those staff members and those who are considered a close contact.

It also says the risk to the public remains low since the hotel is being used as a federally designated quarantine facility that is not open to the general public.

TPH says it and the Public Health Agency of Canada conducted an on-site inspection Tuesday and found that the public health measures and infection prevention and control were being followed, however, also identified areas for improvement including reducing lunch room capacity, putting up more signs and centralizing screening.
