Education workers eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccine week of May 3

By News staff

All Ontario education workers will be eligible to book their COVID-19 vaccine starting the week of May 3.

Currently, only teachers and staff in hotspot regions in the province have been eligible to get the shot.

Education workers, which includes teachers, custodial staff, school bus drivers and administrative staff, are part of the first group of essential workers who can’t work from home.

They will be able to book vaccination appointments through the provincial booking system.

Ontario announced an updated eligibility schedule Thursday that anticipates everyone over the age of 18 will be able to book their vaccine appointment.

Child care workers in licensed settings became eligible on April 29 and it’s anticipated that those in unlicensed setting will be eligible in early to mid-May.
