COVID-19 vaccine bookings start Friday for some people 50+ in Toronto, Peel

By The Canadian Press and News Staff

Some residents of Toronto and Peel Region who are aged 50 and older can book their COVID-19 vaccine appointments starting on Friday.

Starting at 8 a.m., Toronto says people who live in hot spot neighbourhoods can book an appointment to get their shot. Click here for a list of the 53 postal codes that will be eligible. Residents can book an appointment using the Ontario COVID-19 vaccination portal or by calling 1-833-943-3900.

Toronto says doses for that age group may be available as soon as this week and it will begin to administer the vaccine to those residents on Monday.

Currently, there are six City-run vaccination clinics and three more will open on Monday. Click here for the locations.

Peel has also opened the bookings for anyone 50 and over. Appointments can be made through the region’s website or by calling 905-791-5202.

Officials in Peel Region say they will start vaccinating people aged 50 and older on Monday, and will descend through the age ranges in five year increments each week.

They estimate that they will be able to give 65 per cent of the region’s total population their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine by early June.

The Ontario government said earlier this week that people aged 60 and over were able to book their vaccine appointments in every region.
