Peel Paramedics say a 10-year-old girl has been rushed to trauma centre in life-threatening condition after she was struck by a vehicle in Mississauga.

Peel Regional Police received a call shortly after 1:00 p.m. Friday for reports that a child was struck in the Erin Mills Parkway and Battleford Road area.

Peel police Const. Akhil Mooken says two sisters were hit by the vehicle and the 10-year-old suffered life-threatening injuries as a result.

A 13-year-old girl suffered minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.

Mooken says they were with their mother at the time of the incident when the vehicle was attempting to make a left turn and struck the two girls.

The driver remained on scene.

Police said road closures are in place and motorists are being urged to plan ahead and use alternate routes in the meantime.
