York Police charge 26 people as part of $5M drugs and guns bust

A multi-million dollar joint forces drugs and guns bust in the GTA has led to charges against more than two dozen people.

Insp. Jim Kilby with York Regional police organized crime unit tells us they seized $5-million worth of drugs and guns.

“During the focus of our investigation we made a number of seizures and as a result, a large quantity of cocaine was seized, methamphetamine, fentanyl, and over 30,000 prescription pills were also seized,” said Killby.

They also found 12 guns.

“Project Hammer” concluded with 27 search warrants being executed across the GTA on March 18. In total, 35 search warrants were executed and 26 people have been charged as a result.

Toronto police and provincial police were also part of the investigation that started more than a year ago.

“Violence always follows organized crime. If there is illicit income, there will be violence to protect that income,” York Police said in a release.

“York Regional Police and our enforcement partners will not cease our efforts to deter, dismantle and disrupt the organized crime groups involved in these illegal activities, which bring criminality and the risk of violence to all our communities.”
