Child hospitalized after eating ‘Buzzy Peaches’ cannabis edibles

By news staff

Toronto police are telling parents to keep their cannabis edibles out of the reach of their kids.

This, after officers were called to an apartment building Tuesday in south Scarborough.

Police said two children were in the unit with their mother when one of them found a package of cannabis edibles, known as “Buzzy Peaches.”

The child ate one and the mother immediately called 911. The child was later treated and released from hospital.

Police said the product was legally purchased but they’re also reminding parents and caregivers that they should be treated like any other prescription or over-the-counter drugs and be stored in a locked area, in child-proof packaging.

“Since many of these products have similar packaging to non-cannabis products, it is also strongly recommended that children cannot see or have access to the place in which they are stored,” Toronto police said in a release.

If you think a child has consumed any form of cannabis, call Ontario Poison Control or 911 immediately.
