All lanes reopen after massive pileup on HWY 400 amid snow squall warning

By News Staff

Traffic has cleared and all lanes have reopened after becoming blocked, both northbound and southbound, 400 from Hwy 89 to Mapleview Drive in Barrie as a result of blistery wind and whiteout conditions Monday.

There have been no reports of any serious injuries.

OPP Sergeant, Kerry Schmidt, says around 15 vehicles were involved in the collision.

A caller into 680 NEWS said there were clear blue skies, then all of a sudden, awful driving conditions.

680 NEWS weather specialist, Denise Andreacchi, expects the snowfall to continue, on and off throughout the day.

Environment Canada has since issued multiple special weather advisories across the board, including a snow squall and wind warnings in Barrie.

There is also a special weather advisory and statement for Toronto and a blowing snow advisory in Halton-Peel.
