Toronto teen arrested in shooting of 14-year-old girl

Toronto police say a teenage boy is in custody facing charges in connection to the shooting of a 14-year-old girl last week in the Jane and Finch area.

In a release Thursday, police said a group of young people where in an apartment in the Jane Street and Strong Court area in the early morning hours of Friday, February 12. At some point a gun was fired, striking the girl in the head.

The suspect, and others, fled the apartment.

The victim survived, but police say she has life-altering injuries and remains in hospital.

Police say on Tuesday, February 16, a 17-year-old boy was arrested without incident.

He’s facing a slew of charges including aggravated assault, criminal negligence causing bodily harm and unauthorized possession of a firearm.
