Police identify 23-year-old victim of fatal shooting near Yorkdale

Toronto Police have identified the male victim of Monday evening’s fatal shooting near Yorkdale mall.
Police were called for sounds of gunshots just before 10 p.m. near Lawrence Avenue West and Sage Avenue, near Caledonia Road.

They found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries, and paramedics rushed him to hospital, where he later died.
Police say the victim was in a vehicle when he was shot, suspects were seen fleeing the scene in another vehicle at high speed.
The man has been identified as 23-year-old Michael Opong Berchie of Brampton.
Two suspects described as being in all dark clothing were seen fleeing in a suspect vehicle, described as a light-coloured four-door compact SUV.
It was last seen travelling westbound Lawrence Avenue West and then southbound Dufferin Street.
Lawrence Avenue was closed in both directions for the investigation but has since reopened.
Anyone with further information is being asked to contact investigators.
