Mississauga ‘Porch Pirate’ caught in the act, gets stuck in snowbank during attempted getaway

By Alex Bloomfield, Lucas Casaletto

Nobody likes a porch pirate, and so when one gets caught in the act on video, it usually goes viral.

That’s exactly what transpired in Mississauga on Monday.

The now-viral video, obtained by 680 NEWS, is just so sweet to watch for anyone who has lost a package off the front step; a Mississauga resident capturing a would-be pirate in the act.

The suspect makes a break for his car but in turning way too sharply while backing out of the driveway, beaches the small sedan in a snowbank at the end of the driveway.

What follows is pure theatre.

“Do you want me to get you a shovel? I’ll get you a shovel,” the resident can be heard, ostensibly mocking the would-be porch pirate.

The suspect makes zero headway in freeing his vehicle and to make matters worse, at least for him, Peel police show up seven minutes later and make the arrest.

A 33-year-old man from Brampton now faces two charges of theft and fraud under $5,000.
