Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are looking for a suspect vehicle after someone opened fire in what officers are calling an incident of road rage in North York.
Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says investigators are speaking with witnesses and a victim after the reported shooting which happened on the westbound portion of Highway 401 and Keele Street.
“There was an interaction between two vehicles and reports are it was road rage related,” Schmidt said on Thursday.
“Witnesses in one vehicle reported seeing a person with a gun and a shot being fired. There are no reports of any injuries or any damage to that vehicle.”

Schmidt says officers are looking for a black Audi that was last seen travelling northbound from Keele Street. It’s unclear if parties in both vehicles were known to each other.
“We see acts of road rage escalate very quickly,” the sergeant said. “It could potentially be lethal and deadly force. This is a pretty scary situation and something we are very concerned about.”
The westbound collectors’ off-ramp on Highway 401 to Keele is closed for the investigation.
OPP is urging anyone with information or dashcam footage to contact them.
