Ho Ho No: Cadillac Fairview suspends in-person Santa visits at malls

Hate to break it to you kids, but Santa Claus is not coming to town.
Well, at least not to malls under Cadillac Fairview.
On Friday, CF announced it will be suspending in-person Santa visits at all 19 Cadillac Fairview shopping centres across the country.
In a statement, a spokesperson said the company is ‘taking a leadership position in the industry by making this difficult decision.’
“The company’s decision to suspend physical experiences with Santa in all 19 CF shopping centres is based on protecting the health and safety of its guests, clients and employees, while also ensuring Santa is in top condition to make deliveries to children around the world at midnight on Christmas Day,” Cadillac Fairview said.
But, there is still some hope.
Cadillac Fairview says it is introducing several new virtual Santa experiences to keep the magic and spirit of the season alive, including ‘CF Storytime LIVE with Santa’ along with virtual video chats.
Eaton Centre, Sherway Gardens, Fairview Mall and Ottawa’s Rideau Centre are among the 19 shopping centres to operate under Cadillac Fairview.
