Police accuse the military reservist of driving a pickup truck from his home in Manitoba, and using it to break through a side gate at Rideau Hall, then walking toward a residence on the grounds while heavily armed.

Neither the Trudeaus, nor Governor General Julie Payette, were on the grounds at the time.

Friday’s proceedings are expected to be minor pre-trial matters.
