Tory to announce how City will re-open safely in new tier of pandemic recovery framework

By News Staff

On Wednesday, we will learn more about the City’s plans to re-open safely on when it enters a new tier of the province’s pandemic recovery framework.

The Ford government revealed on Tuesday a new tiered system which places health units in colour-coded categories depending on caseload and transmission level.

At the request of Mayor John Tory, and the City’s medical officer of health, Doctor Eileen de Villa, Toronto won’t see restrictions eased until next Saturday, November 14.

In a statement, Tory said he’s asked de Villa and her team to review the framework and said the City is working closely with Toronto Public Health to determine what it has to do to open doors safely.

Tory and de Villa are expected to speak about the City’s plans during Wednesday’s 2 o’clock update.

The province’s other hotspots of Peel, York, and Ottawa will see restrictions eased this Saturday, allowing for indoor dining and gyms to reopen.
