Downtown apartment building evacuated following an electrical fire

A downtown apartment building has been evacuated following a two-alarm fire.
Crews were called to the area of Gerrard and Mutual streets around 10:40 p.m. after getting reports of an electrical fire on the second floor of the building.
Upon arrival crews found heavy smoke and discovered an electrical fire in a utility room of the building at 96 Gerrard Street East.
The original fire has been put out.
Some residents have been evacuated, no injuries have been reported. A TTC bus was called to the scene to provide shelter for any displaced residents.
Gerrard was closed between Church and Mutual for the investigation.
