Toronto hospitals and COVID-19 centres now require appointments to ensure a test, and, unsurprisingly, they have booked up fast.

It has only been a day and several of these hospitals say they’re full for COVID-19 tests until Thursday.

Of the City’s 14 assessment centres, two locations had readily available appointments.

Humber River Hospital’s online booking system shows the Church and Finch sites have openings over the next two days.

The Etobicoke General Hospital drive-thru, meantime, is still developing an automated booking system.

Anyone qualified is being asked to make an appointment at the testing centre between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. where you will be given a date and time to return for your test.

Scarborough Health Network’s three locations have an online pre-registration form that needs to be filled out before you can book an appointment, I’ve reached out for confirmation on availability and have not heard back.

Everywhere else is booked.

Women’s College Hospital has issued an apology to those trying to book online.

“We’re sorry – we have reached the daily registration limit at our covid-19 assessment centre for today. online registration opens every day at 6 a.m. we accept 600 registrations per day. please try again tomorrow.”

With appointment-only tests, Premier Doug Ford said wait times for the centres may become longer – but overcrowding will decrease.

Ford is pleading with the public to have patience as the 77 assessment centres in the GTA switch systems.
