Premier Ford responds after hundreds gather in Ancaster parking lot

By News Staff, The Canadian Press

A frustrated Premier Doug Ford lashed out after hundreds were seen congregating to a Cineplex parking lot in Ancaster over the weekend.

“If we weren’t so back logged on MRI’s, I’d send you to the MRI to get your brain scanned because I don’t think there’s anything in there,” Ford said on Monday.

“We get the protocols out there and they just blatantly ignore the people. You got to really wonder.”

Hamilton Police say charges could yet be laid as they continue to investigate the event.

Staff Sergeant Steve Ley says the force received a tip from a neighbouring police service that aspiring street racers were planning to hold an event in the city Saturday evening.

The event took place hours after the Ontario government lowered the limits on indoor and outdoor social gatherings in a bid to stop a recent surge of COVID-19 cases.
