Police in Montreal have arrested a 38-year-old driver they say struck as many as nine pedestrians in Montreal North on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson Emmanuel Couture tells LaPresse none of the victims suffered serious injuries.
“(The driver) then left the scene in a hurry before finishing his run a few streets later, at the corner of Avenue Valade and Rue de Dijon, hitting eight people at the same time,” Couture said.
“We are talking about six adults and two children who were already on the sidewalk.”
Officers say several hospital runs were needed.
A motive is not clear though police say they will speak with the driver, who is now in custody, and an update is expected at a later time.
