Masks over chocolate bars: Metrolinx launches new vending machines

By Laura Carney

It’s a sign of the times.

Metrolinx is launching new vending machines where you’ll be able to buy hand sanitizer and face masks.

Right now there are two machines, one at the union UP express station in the skywalk and the other is located at the Oakville GO station.

It’s all part of the Metrolinx’ ‘safety never stops’ program.

In the vending machines you can buy disposable and reusable face coverings, gloves, hand sanitizer and touchless keychains.

As for the price of some of the items, a ten pack of disposable face coverings will cost you $9.99, a travel size hand sanitizer bottle $3.49 and the touchless keychain goes for $6.99.

Metrolinx says commuters can expect more of these vending machines to be rolled out at more stations in the coming months.

Face coverings are mandatory when travelling on GO trains and the UP express.
