A mother from Vaughan is facing impaired driving charges after an S-U-V was spotted swerving in the city over the long weekend.
A person called 9-1-1 around 5 p.m. on Sunday afternoon after seeing the vehicle hitting the curb on and off in the Bathurst and Highway 7 area.
When police pulled the driver over, they found the woman’s 9-year-old son in the backseat not wearing a seat-belt.
They also discovered opened cans of beer inside.
Sergeant Andy Pattenden says the investigation later revealed the woman had left her 3-year-old at home, alone.
“We sent officers to the house, located that child thankfully in good health,” Pattenden tells 680 News.
The 32-year-old woman has been charged with impaired driving and child abandonment.
The children were turned over to their father and the children’s aid society has also been notified.
