It happened on the eastbound Highway 401 express lanes near Markham Road on Wednesday morning.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as Christian Romero-Mancilla of Toronto
OPP Acting Sgt. Dan Hunter said a pickup truck was towing a flat-bed trailer in the westbound lanes, when one of the trailer’s tires detached and crossed over into the eastbound express lanes, hitting the vehicle.
The pickup truck was located and police are speaking with the driver.
Hunter said the pickup truck with attached trailer is being treated as a commercial vehicle.
