BRAMPTON, ONT. (NEWS 1130) — Roberta Battaglia stole the show Tuesday night with a performance worthy of a golden buzzer on America’s Got Talent.

The 10-year-old from Brampton took the stage on the talent competition show to perform Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper’s song “Shallow,” from the movie A Star is Born.

Initially seeming a bit nervous, a little encouragement from the crowd and a sip of water provided by host Terry Crews seemed to be enough for Roberta to start singing.

Only in the audition round of the show, the young singer left the celebrity judges in awe after belting out the song.

“Unbelievable,” is how Canadian judge Howie Mandel described Roberta’s performance.

Simon Cowell joked Roberta might have had someone else singing, in slight disbelief she was able to sing as she did.

“You are so likeable, so humble,” he says, adding she must have great friends.

The young singer with tears in her eyes says yes, but admits she is bullied sometimes.

“It was amazing. It was breathtaking,” judge Sofia Vergara says. “And you know what, let’s see who is going to bully you after this,” as the actor stands up and hits the golden buzzer – for the first time ever – releasing glittering gold confetti from the ceiling.

A gold buzzer automatically puts Roberta through to the semi-finals.

“It was always my dream to be on AGT,” she says, taking a second to apologize and catch her breath. “That’s coming true.”

At her home, Roberta even has a small display box of the confetti.

“It’s an unforgettable moment. It’ll always be in my heart forever,” she tells CityNews.

Roberta goes on to say she was blown away by a comment from Cowell that night, which he says he was “honoured” to have her as a guest on the show.

“My phone has been exploding with messages, phone calls, I mean I can’t keep up,” Roberta says. “I mean, I love it.”

She has been singing with her father since she was three-and-a-half years old.

A year ago, Roberta also appeared on Breakfast Television for a kids’ talent show.

She’s currently working on recording a 10-song album with Rob Wells, a producer and song-writer.
