Sophie Grégoire Trudeau says she has recovered from COVID-19

OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) — Sophie Grégoire Trudeau has recovered from COVID-19, according to a statement she released on social media.

In a Facebook post she said she is “feeling so much better” and has been cleared by her doctor and Ottawa Public Health.

Grégoire Trudeau went into self-isolation at the Prime Minister’s residence on March 12 after contracting the virus while on a trip in the UK.

Her diagnosis forced the Prime Minister, as well as his children, into self-isolation, despite none of them contracting the virus.

She acknowledged that isolation can be difficult, but reiterated calls from public health officials to stay home in order to stay well and stem the spread of the virus.

“These are challenging times. I know it’s not easy to be alone – we are all social beings, me included! But just because we’re increasing the physical distance between us doesn’t mean we have to do the same emotionally. From social media to a simple phone call, there are so many ways for us to stay connected while we’re apart and actually deepen our relationships,” she said.

“I strongly believe that science AND compassion will get us through this crisis. That means listening and following the health protocols and staying at home for the time being.”
