University of Toronto cancels convocations due to coronavirus pandemic

By News Staff

The University of Toronto is cancelling all convocation ceremonies for the spring 2020 season over coronavirus concerns.

The ceremonies were scheduled to take place between June 2 and 19.

The university posted on Twitter Wednesday saying the move was prompted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the government directives about social distancing.

They added that students who have completed their degree requirements will still receive their degrees and parchments.

The university says it is currently “exploring alternative means of celebrating” graduation.
