By News Staff

A man is in custody following a stabbing on the 12A Kingston bus on Wednesday evening.

Police responded to a call for a stabbing aboard a TTC bus in the Danforth and Victoria Park avenues around 5:45 p.m.

Police say the suspect was armed with scissors and fled the bus to a parking lot nearby. He was found in front of a grocery store and arrested. A weapon was also retrieved.

The victim is being treated by paramedics. Their injuries are not life-threatening but they are life-altering.

Police say the suspect and victim did not know each other and the stabbing was random.

Const. David Hopkinson says the bus was likely crowded during the evening rush hour and there should be several witnesses.

Officers will be speaking to witnesses and reviewing footage from the camera on board the bus.
