22 year veteran of Peel regional police charged with sexual assault

Police west of Toronto said Wednesday they’ve charged one of their own with sexual assault.
Peel regional police say they began investigating in March when the Office of the Independent Police Review Director passed on an allegation of sexual misconduct.
They say that after a nine-month probe, they charged Cst. Daniel McAllister, who has been a member of the force for 22 years, with sexual assault and breach of trust.
Police did not provide any details about the allegations against the officer.
“Our members will be held responsible for their actions, as police officers we are held to a higher standard than those who we have been sworn to serve,” said Chief Nishan Durraiappah. “Every member must understand and appreciate the challenges and the need for transparency with members of our community.”
McAllister, who is currently suspended, is scheduled to appear in a Brampton court for a hearing on Jan. 6.
