A one-day walkout by public high school teachers in Ontario looks inevitable.

Education minister Stephen Lecce says the Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation (OSSTF) has been presented with a new framework for negotiators via a mediator but the head of the union says that isn’t true.

OSSTF president Harvey Bischof says the union’s bargaining team hasn’t seen or heard from the province’s negotiators since yesterday afternoon.

Some parents will be showing their support for the teachers on Tuesday evening.

They’ll be holding a rally at 6 p.m. outside the Sheraton Centre hotel where contract talks have been taking place.

Sixty-thousand public high school teachers are set to walk off the job tomorrow but will return to class on Thursday.
