Teacher at Etobicoke school arrested for sexual assault of student

By News Staff

A teacher at Father John Redmond Catholic Secondary School has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a female student.

Toronto police allege Andrew Lee, 42, of Hamilton sexually exploited a 16-year-old student between Feb. 2013 and Sept. 2014.

Lee has been employed with the Toronto Catholic District School Board since 2007, previously working at St. Basil-the-Great College School from 2007 to 2008 and then Father John Redmond from 2008 to 2019.

He is facing a charge of sexual assault and sexual exploitation.

Lee was scheduled to appear in court on Friday.

The Toronto Catholic District School Board says Lee has not been working for any TCDSB school since the allegation was brought to the Board’s and called the allegations “troubling.”

In a statement provided to CityNews, the Board said staff, students and parents have been notified about the matter and additional supports have been provided.
