Peel police cruiser involved in collision while pursuing robbery suspects

A Peel police cruiser was involved in a collision while pursuing suspects believed to be involved in a robbery in Mississauga.

Officers responded to a call for a bank robbery in the area of Mississauga Road and Sandalwood Parkway around 11:45 a.m.

Police say a gun was used in the robbery and cash was allegedly taken. No injuries were reported.

The suspects left the scene in a car and then later fled on foot.

While pursuing the suspects, a Peel police cruiser became involved in a collision with another vehicle at Mississauga Road and Steeles Avenue West.

The man in the vehicle was taken to hospital with minor injuries to the extremities. The officer in the cruiser suffered minor injuries and was not taken to hospital.

The suspects remain at large.

St. Daniel Comboni Catholic Elementary school has been placed in a hold and secure as tactical and K9 units investigate.
