Suspect vehicle photos released after teen struck and killed in East York

Toronto police’s homicide unit is investigating after a teenager was intentionally struck and killed by a vehicle that fled the scene in East York early Monday morning.

Police were called to Cedarvale Avenue near the East York Memorial Arena just after 2 a.m. to reports of a pedestrian struck.

Investigators say it’s believed the boy, around 16 years old, was walking on the sidewalk when he had an interaction with two people in a vehicle. The vehicle, described as a dark coloured SUV, then intentionally struck him and fled the scene northbound on Woodbine Avenue.

The victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries where he was pronounced dead. He is yet to be identified.

Homicide Det. Leslie Dunkley said police have eyewitnesses who say the victim was being followed prior to the interaction and they saw the incident.

Police canvassed the area for video and have now released photos of the vehicles, captured on security camera footage.

The suspect vehicle is described as a clean black, small four-door SUV. The make and model of the vehicle is unknown but police say it has damage to the front-end.

Investigators say two suspects left the scene in the vehicle. The driver is described as a while male, between 25 to 30 years old, around five feet ten inches tall with a round face and short to balding hair. The second suspect, a passenger in the vehicle, is also described as a white male with hair, height and weight similar to the first suspect.
